Document Layout Annotation
Customer Story 01 · Document IntelligenceThe Challenge:
A pioneering AI research team needed to teach its models to read the structure of a page, not just the words. That meant human-labeled titles, headers, tables, captions, and footnotes across real legal and educational documents in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and more, where two people could easily label the same element differently.
Effective Solution:
Volga's team boxed and labeled every element on each page using twelve layout categories. A different auditor spot-checked every batch before delivery to catch drift, unclear cases were settled as a team, and repeated ambiguities became guideline updates. Labels were exported as structured JSON.
Results:
Every delivery was checked, consistent, and on time, however different the documents were.
